Between 1984 and 2007 the annual operating budget for the Sanilac District Court increased a staggering 250%.

During this same period of time the District Court salaries increased 320%.

My opponent wishes to continue the current course of the court and offers absolutely nothing new……only business as usual.

If I am elected your next District Judge you will not have to guess at my plans. 

I openly promise,

• To make cost reductions a priority and reverse this historic spending cycle.

• To vigorously implement my plan for alternative sentencing which I have been discussing publically since 2007.

• To review the necessity of every staff position and function at the District Court and Magistrate's Office and make the necessary adjustments.  If elected, I will immediately start the process of eliminating one Magistrate Clerk position and one District Court Paralegal position.  This will save Sanilac County taxpayers over $70,000 per year in salaries and benefits which represents an immediate 18% reduction in the District Court's annual budget.

• To work daily with the new Sheriff and Board of Commissioners on jailing alternatives and work programs.  Despite the opinions of my critics if I am elected this would become an important function of the District Judge.  

• Jailing inmates is very costly to the taxpayers and we must look for safe yet cost effective alternatives.  By reducing our in-county bed needs we can generate nearly $29,000 per year per bed in safe additional income for Sanilac County taxpayers without any additional costs.

•  To operate the Court on time and with the greatest efficiency possible.

You will not hear a striking rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy nor a selfproclaimed recitation of my virtues in any of my political ads. 

What you will hear about though are my solid ideas for the future of our District Court.

My philosophy is very simple.....we should learn to use what resources we have better before asking the taxpayers for more, especially a $16.6 million debt.

For the first time in a generation the voters of Sanilac County have the chance to make total sweeping changes in the Board of County Commissioners, District Judge and Sheriff.

From the factories, farms, back roads and back streets of this County we will be heard on November 4th, 2008.

Unlike my opponent I live and work in the same town where I was born.  I have never moved to start my life over in hopes of covering up my past decisions and mistakes.

Sanilac County has been my home for 49 years and will be so tomorrow.

If you give me the chance as your next District Judge I promise to protect your rights just as hard as I fought to protect my own.

If Sanilac County is your  home as well and you desire change, the first place we start is the voting booth.

Working together we must elect new people to county offices with fresh ideas.
