CHANGE THAT YOU CAN REALLY BELIEVE IN
"Strength In Unity"

November 4th, 2008
To the voters of Sanilac County:
On August 5th, 2,241 jail proponents voted in a block for my opponents in an attempt to eliminate me from the General Election and keep me from the bench in 2009. They failed.
There are currently 29,567 registered voters in Sanilac County and only 6,867 of you voted for the judicial candidates. By not voting at all you are allowing a small special interest group intent on constructing a new county jail to elect your next district judge. Is that what you really want?
Please review the breakdown by precincts from the August 5th Primary which have been added to this website. These numbers were taken from the official voting records of Sanilac County. The jail opponent votes cast that day were fairly divided between the three main candidates, but it is evident from the numbers in many precincts the impact the pro-jail voters had on the Ross-Reid split. I averaged 42 votes per precinct, the jail proponent voters averaged 72 yes votes for the jail issue per precinct and my main opponent averaged 130 votes per precinct. You can see from these numbers the significance of the pro-jail votes for my opponent.
During the 2004 November Presidential election 20,763 of you voted in Sanilac County. During the 2000 November election 18,566 of you voted. We cannot afford to have ultra-conservatives and jail proponent voters in control of our county government.
On November 4th, please vote.

You will not hear a striking rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy nor a selfproclaimed recitation of my virtues in any of my political ads.
What you will hear about though are my solid ideas for the future of our District Court.
My philosophy is very simple.....we should learn to use what resources we have better before asking the taxpayers for more, especially a $16.6 million debt.
For the first time in a generation the voters of Sanilac County have the chance to make total sweeping changes in the Board of County Commissioners, District Judge and Sheriff.
From the factories, farms, back roads and back streets of this County we will be heard on November 4th, 2008.
I won a fight with the State of Michigan to continue my legal career, and fought to preserve your legal right to vote on the proposed new jail,
......and, I'm still here.
I have the tenacity, drive and more important, the determination that is needed to do the job required at this time.
During my 23 year legal career I have advised, helped or represented over 20,000 clients. Ask them, they are your friends and neighbors right here in Sanilac County.
Unlike my opponents I live and work in the same town where I was born. I have never moved to start my life over in hopes of covering up my past decisions, and, I have never relocated my residence just in time to run for a public office.
Sanilac County has been my home for 49 years and will be so tomorrow.
If you give me the chance as your next District Judge I promise to protect your rights just as hard as I fought to protect my own.

If Sanilac County is your home as well and you desire change, the first place we start is the voting booth.
Working together we must elect new people to county offices with fresh ideas.
